The Wedding of…………….

Indrani & Matt

Love Stories

It was a glorious day in mid-November for Indrani & Matt’s wedding at Achnagairn Castle and some beautiful orange and red leaves remained on the tress but were only windy night or two from being stripped away altogether. The sun was shining, and it was a beautiful day for photography.

After getting some establishing shots of Achnagairn, I photograph all the getting ready stage with the guys and girls! The ceremony was beautifully conducted by Matt’s Auntie Meggie.  The nice weather continued following the ceremony and we got some beautiful bride and groom photos with some lovely light to work with.  After the main group photographs were complete, I really enjoyed interacting with Indrani and Matt’s friends and family.  Such a nice group of people, who were all very warm and welcoming.

Many thanks to Indrani and Matt for entrusting me to photograph their wedding.  Two very lovely people who were a joy to work for.  All the very best to you both 😊

Why did you choose Andy as your photographer?

Once we had decided upon Achnagairn as our venue, the first thing we wanted to secure was the right photographer for the day. Being based in London, we knew we had our work cut out! Having researched on social media and the recommended list of suppliers from our venue, we loved Andy’s portfolio online with his focus on capturing candid moments and beautiful compositions. Having spoken to him online made us feel at ease immediately as he was just so lovely and understood our vision for a relaxed weekend of celebrations. And once our other suppliers knew we had booked him, they all shared how wonderful it was working with him. He was always professional, yet disappeared into the background seamlessly which means we have lovely, candid memories from the day. For some of the photos, we hadn’t even noticed him capture the moments from so many different angles! The guests could not praise him enough, not least because of how pleasant he was but also how he put everyone at ease, even my camera-shy friends. Once we received the photos, we were over the moon. Even with the initial edit, he had captured the feeling of the weekend and we couldn’t wait to see more. We love the photos so much, we went back and asked for a storybook to keep as a memento. We cannot recommend Andy highly enough.

The Venue

Why did you choose Achnagairn Castle as your venue?

We knew we wanted to get married in the Highlands – due to links to Indrani and her family living here. It’s a beautiful part of the world. Following some research, we decided to visit Achnagairn on a trip to Inverness and completely fell in love with the property – the history, the BALLROOM and the unique rooms which would allow us to have a whole weekend with our family and friends in the same place. To top it off, Matt’s mum found out after we booked the venue, that Matt’s 4 times great Grandfather was born on the property! It was meant to be.

The Decor

Did you have a particular theme, colour of feel for your wedding?

Not really, we went in with no firm ideas. We had done a bit of research on Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration. We did know that we wanted a relaxed feel over the weekend given it was a fairly small wedding. As we were getting married in November, it tied in well with our love for autumnal colours. After speaking to Elizabeth at Bothy Blooms, it all came together – she completely understood our aesthetic – neutrals with pops of colour and lots of foliage. She did an exceptional job! Nicola at Eva’s Covers was an absolute dream too, sussing out exactly what we were looking for.

The Look

How did you go about deciding your look?

I wanted my look to be simple but with an edge – I love anything a little whimsy but not too out there. I had actually ordered a dress online (not a particularly bridal one) until my friend took me for a bridal fitting once we were allowed due to Covid. She felt I must have the bridal experience even if I didn’t want a “white dress”. We went to Frances Day Bridal in Southwell and came out with my dress of dreams – a bespoke Suzanne Neville number. Julia was amazing and made me feel a million dollars. I knew I needed something special to mark the day and I love that she was able to conjure up my elegant dress with quirky cape style sleeves! I also found my earrings there. I love statement earrings and Frances Day had the perfect pair by Miss Clemmie that matched my sleeves beautifully.

In terms of makeup and hair, I wanted a simple but glamorous look – mainly enhancing my everyday look. Gillian and Kristine made me feel at ease from the first trial and made everything so easy on the day.

What was the favourite part of your day?

It was lovely having all our family and friends under the same roof after such a long time apart. We had an Indian themed evening on the Friday, with our caterers The Lunchbox Boys creating a fantastic feast and, whilst we hadn’t asked them to, it was lovely to have our friends and family dress the part and throw themselves into the music – really celebrating both our cultures. On the morning of the wedding, we had a lovely private breakfast together with some celebratory fizz before parting ways to get ready. It was a lovely way to start the celebrations and felt very natural for us to see each other before the I Dos. Finally – particularly for Matt  (which Andy captured so well!) – when I first saw Indrani enter the hall after a little wait – she needed the right bit in the music! – she looked stunning and epitomised the weekend, marrying my best friend.
